About the Founder

My passion for rescue and educating the public started back in 1994. I bought a Pomeranian puppy in a local pet store and thought I had asked all the right questions. Was she bred locally? Is she from a puppy mill? Etc. Within 24 hours she was so ill that she needed more than $2,000 in vet costs to save her life. They offered me my money back, however I had to return her and she would be euthanized immediately. Well I could not let them kill her, but I did take my experience and use it to educate others. This started me on my path to educate the public and eventually to rescue. I had no idea at the time just how far this path would take me.
For years after that I would take in strays and find them loving homes, but I kept telling myself that I could not get involved in rescue full time because it was too painful to face all the neglect, abuse and abandonment of so many innocent souls. One day I realized my decision to ignore the problem was actually making it worse, so I started to make it about them ~ not me. Thus, the next chapter began. I started off by volunteering/fostering for other rescues. In 2010, I decided it was time to go out on my own. Hence Pom to the Rescue started taking shape. With the help of some very compassionate and caring people and my husband by my side cheering me on, my rescue has blossomed. I have been able to save some precious souls that have touched my heart deeply. I pride myself in helping the Pomeranians that are too often over looked because of their special needs. My blind rescues have a very special corner of my heart. They have brought more joy to me than I can ever express in words.
I am very small rescue. I am very fortunate to have the most selfless and dedicated volunteers that share my same passion for rescue. We are all of like mind. It is not about us or our ego, it is about them and their lives. Without our intervention, they will surely die.
I cannot save the world, but I can save one at a time.
